Tidewater Community College (TCC) & Buisinesses Craft Customer-Service Certificate
Program responds to business need for customized, entry-level staff
Hampton Roads, VA — Tidewater Community College, Canon ITS, Cox Communications and Cegedim Dendrite have teamed up to address a demand for customized communications support staff.
The team has developed a customer-service certificate program that opens the door for entry-level employees who can advance into career tracks such as sales, call-center and technical support positions.
Well suited for people returning to the workforce, as well as recent high school graduates, the program starts with 12 core credit hours covering topics from keyboarding to customer service management. Students can take the entire core credits in one semester or spread the classes out over two to three semesters.
Completing the core classes – offered on Fridays and Saturdays at TCC’s Chesapeake Campus – guarantees participants an interview with at least one firm. Companies then decide on hiring and what opportunities they will offer for advanced training.
To earn the 24-credit certificate, students then take 12 credits of elective classes that can be customized per employer.
Career opportunities include account services representative, customer service representative, sales representative, service information representative and technical support representative.
For more information on the Career Studies Certificate in Customer Service, call TCC's Information Center, 822-1122, or visit the web site, www.tcc.edu.
