We understand that sometime things just don't go the way we would like them to. Troubleshooting cable installation is no different. But we are here to help! First, ask yourself the following questions: Is the problem affecting more than one cable outlet? Is the problem occurring on one channel only? If you answered no to either of these questions, great, you may be able to avoid a service call by giving the following basic troubleshooting steps a try! However, don't worry, even if you answer yes to either of the questions, we are still here to help - just give us a call at 757-222-1111 and we will get you hooked up in no-time.
STEP 1
Confirm that...
the channel selector on the TV AND VCR is on the appropriate channel if you have a Cox Digital receiver. (If you're unsure of the correct channel in your area, the most commonly used channel is 4).
all switches are set correctly (on CATV or Cable Mode).
all connections into the TV set, VCR and Cox Digital receiver are finger tight.
all electrical outlets that the equipment is plugged into are active. (One way to do this is by plugging a lamp into the outlet and see if the lamp works). If there is a switch that controls the outlet that the equipment is plugged into, make sure that it hasn't been accidentally turned off.
If the TV has a "TV/VIDEO" or "TV/MONITOR" switch, the switch is in the "TV" position.
STEP 2
If none of the basic steps above resolve your problem, you may still be able to avoid scheduling a service call by trying some of the more specific steps below. If you would prefer to schedule an appointment with a Cox cable technician, please contact the Cox cable office in your community (see locations). In most cases, our repair visits are free of charge, however there is a possible fee if the problem is non-cable related.
