Solution

Enable or Disable the Purchase PIN  

 

The Pay-Per-View / On DEMAND purchase PIN is always reset to disabled status before the cable box is installed in your home. To avoid unwanted purchases when the purchase PIN is disabled, you will always be prompted with a confirmation screen before any purchase is made. Purchases of movies and events using your Cox remote control can be restricted or unrestricted through enabling or disabling the purchase PIN. You can turn your purchase PIN on or off using the following steps:

 

  1. Press the SETTINGS button on the Cox remote control.
    Result: The Quick Settings menu opens.
  2. Press the A button for "More Settings."
    Result: The General Settings menu opens.
  3. Use the UP or DOWN arrows on the remote to scroll through the list to the Purchasing section.

    If you have a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), you may need to press the SELECT button on your remote while the Purchasing section is highlighted before continuing.

  4. Scroll to the Purchase PIN option, then press SELECT or the RIGHT arrow to access the PIN setting options.
  5. Using the arrow buttons again, scroll through the PIN setting options until your desired choice is highlighted.
  6. Press the SELECT button to choose the highlighted setting.
    Result: The marker dot moves to your selected setting to show it has been changed.
  7. Once you have made your desired changes, press the EXIT button on the Cox remote to return to watching TV.

Change the Purchase PIN  

 

The Pay-Per-View / On DEMAND purchase PIN is always reset to the default number 0-0-0-0 before being given to our customers for use. After enabling the purchase PIN, if you would like additional security, you may change the purchase PIN at any time using the following steps:

 

  1. Press the SETTINGS button on the Cox remote control.
    Result: The Quick Settings menu opens.
  2. Press the A button for "More Settings."
    Result: The General Settings menu opens.
  3. Use the UP or DOWN arrows on the remote to scroll through the list to the Purchasing section.

    If you have a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), you may need to press the SELECT button on your remote while the Purchasing section is highlighted before continuing.

  4. Scroll to the Purchase PIN option, then press SELECT or the RIGHT arrow to access the PIN setting options. The Change PIN option will be in this list.

    If you have a DVR, the Change PIN option will be listed separately from the Purchase PIN option under the Purchasing section.

  5. Scroll through and highlight the Change PIN option, then press the SELECT button to start the process of changing the purchase PIN.
  6. You will be prompted to enter the current PIN. If this is your first time changing the purchase PIN, it should be set to the default number 0-0-0-0.
  7. You will then be prompted to enter the new PIN of your choosing. The new PIN may be any four-digit number.
  8. After entering the new PIN, you will be prompted to confirm the new PIN. Enter the same PIN again.
    Result: A confirmation window displays to let you know the purchase PIN has been reset.
  9. Press the A button on the Cox remote to return to the General Settings menu.
  10. You may then press the EXIT button to return to watching TV.
