Cox IP Backbone Performance
Cox Communications owns and operates our own high speed, multi-service, national fiber optic backbone comprising of tens of thousands route miles of fiber. A fully self-healing MPLS network operating over this backbone is enabled by fully redundant core routers deployed in each of our Internet Peering locations and Regional Data Centers (RDCs). These core routers are interconnected to the backbone by multiple high bandwidth connections. Multiple MPLS paths ensure that no backbone location is isolated in the event of a fiber or electronic outage. Extensive Internet peering and transit connections are maintained for interconnectivity with the Internet.
