Accessing Contour Parental Control Features

Solution

To begin adjusting Parental Control features complete the following steps:

  1. Press the CONTOUR button on your remote control.
  2. Press the arrow buttons to highlight Settings, then press OK.
  3. Press the down arrow button to highlight Parental Controls, then press OK.
  4. Enter your four-digit PIN.
  5. See the table below for instructions for managing Contour parental control features.

Movie Rating LocksMovie Rating Locks allows you to set Parental Controls to lock movies based on their Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) ratings.
  1. Press the down arrow button to highlight Movie Rating Locks, then press OK.
  2. To lock or unlock a movie rating, use the down arrow button to highlight the rating.
    • A gray, open lock icon indicates unlocked movie ratings.
    • A blue closed lock icon indicates locked movie ratings.
  3. Press OK to turn the lock on or off.
  4. For each additional rating to be locked or unlocked, highlight the rating and press OK.
TV Rating LocksTV Rating Locks allows you to set Parental Controls to lock TV shows and series based on their TV Parental Guideline ratings.

Note: Series episodes do not always have the same rating. For example; An episode of a series may have a rating of TV-14 one week and a TV-PG rating the next week.
  1. Press the down arrow button to highlight TV Ratings Locks then press OK.
  2. Press the down arrow button to highlight the TV rating you wish to lock or unlock, then press OK.
  3. Press the down arrow button to highlight the category within the TV rating that you wish to lock or unlock.
  4. Press OK to turn the lock on or off.
    • A gray, open lock icon indicates unlocked TV ratings.
    • A blue closed lock icon indicates locked TV ratings.
  5. To lock or unlock additional categories within the selected TV rating, highlight the category and press OK.
Title LocksTitle Locks allows you to set Parental Controls to block access to individual shows, series, and movies.
  1. Press Guide on your remote.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll to highlight the programming you would like to lock, then press Info.
  3. Highlight Movie Info or Series Info, then press OK.
  4. Press the right arrow button, scroll to highlight Lock, then press OK.
  5. Enter your four-digit PIN. The title you have selected is now Locked.
On Demand

The On Demand Lock requires that you enter a Locks PIN when ordering all Contour On Demand content such as free content, purchased content, or content available with a subscription.

Press the down arrow button to highlight On Demand, then press OK.

Note: To the right of On Demand will now show On for locked or Off for unlocked.

Application Locks

An Application Lock requires that you enter a Locks PIN when accessing any app content within the Contour TV apps.

Press the down arrow button to highlight Application Locks, then press OK.

Note: To the right of Application Locks will now show On for locked or Off for unlocked.

Safe BrowseSafe Browse allows you to prevent adult titles and programming from displaying on screen, whether in program listings or in On Demand menus. When a title is hidden, "Parental Controlled Program" is listed in its place.
  1. Press the down arrow button to highlight Safe Browse.
  2. Press the OK button to turn Safe Browse on or off.
  3. When Safe Browse is set to on, use the down arrow button to highlight the safety level you wish to enable (Medium or High).
  4. Press OK.
Day and Time LocksDay and Time Locks allows you to set parental controls to block all programming viewing between certain hours on certain days.
  1. Press the down arrow button to highlight Day and Time Locks, then press OK.
  2. Starts is already highlighted. Press OK to begin setting the start time for the lock.
  3. To set the start time, complete the following steps:
    1. Press the up or down arrow buttons to set the start hour.
    2. Press the right arrow button to get to the minutes setting. Then press the up or down arrow buttons to set the start minutes setting in any 5-minute increment.

      Example: 8:05, 8:10, 8:15

    3. Press the right arrow button to get to the am / pm setting. Press the up or down arrow buttons to set the start time to am or pm.
    4. Press OK.
  4. On the Day and Time Locks screen, press the right arrow button over to Ends. Press OK.
    1. Press the arrow buttons to set the end time.
    2. Press the up or down arrow buttons to set the end hour.
    3. Press the right arrow button to the minutes setting. Then press the up arrow or down arrow buttons to set the end minutes setting in any 5-minute increment.

      Example: 8:05, 8:10, 8:15

    4. Press the right arrow button to select am / pm. Then press the up or down arrow buttons to set the end time to am or pm.
    5. Press OK.
  5. Press the down arrow button to highlight the first day of the week you would like to lock.

    Note: Unlocked days are indicated by a gray open lock icon.

  6. Press OK and repeat for additional days.

    Note: Selected days are indicated by a closed blue lock.
