Adding Recovery Methods Online

Solution

Complete the following steps to enroll in MyAccount User ID recovery.

From the Account Security tab, click the User ID Recovery drop-down arrow.

Click Add Recovery Method.

From the Choose a recovery method pop-up window, select one of the following methods to receive your verification code and click Continue.

  • Text Message
  • Voice Call
  • Email Address

Complete the steps in the table below based on the verification method selected.
 

If you selected...Then...
Text Message
  1. From the Enter mobile number window, in the Mobile Number field, enter your cell phone number and click Continue to receive an automated text message from 26898 with a verification code.

  2. From the Verify your mobile number window, in the Code field, enter the verification code and click Confirm.

    Note: For additional assistance, reply to the text with the word AGENT.
Voice Call
  1. From the Enter phone number window, in the Phone Number field, enter your telephone number and click Continue to receive a call with a verification code.

  2. From the Verify your phone number window, in the Code field, enter the verification code and click Confirm.

    Note: To resend the verification code, click the Resend Code link.
Email Address
  1. From the Enter email address window, in the Email Address field, enter your email address and click Continue to receive an email from MyNotificationQA@cox.com with a verification code.

    Note: If the email does not appear in your inbox after a few minutes, be sure to check your junk or spam folder.

  2. From the Verify your email address window, in the Code field, enter the verification code and click Confirm.

Perform the actions in the table below based on the message displayed.
 

If the verification code...Then...
Was entered successfullyThe Enrollment Complete window displays.

Click Done to view or manage account recovery settings.
Was entered incorrectlyThe following error message displays.

Re-enter the verification code and click Continue again. If needed, click the Resend Code link to receive a new verification code.
Has expiredThe following error message displays.

Verification codes expire after five minutes. Click the Resend Code link to receive a new verification code.
