After the modem is successfully connected to the network, the Power, Phone, and Battery indicators continuously indicate that the modem is online and fully operational.

The following ports are available on the back of the modem.

    • PHONE PORT 1 and 2 - Connects to the telephone.
    • RESET - Use this button to reboot the modem or restore to factory defaults. It is recessed to prevent accidental resets. Press and hold the indented Reset button to reboot the modem for three to four seconds. To restore factory defaults, press and hold the indented Reset button for over 10 seconds or until the front panel LED flashes.
    • CABLE COAXIAL INPUT - Connects the coax cable to the cable wall outlet.
     

MAC Address

This information is found on a sticker at the bottom of the modem.

 

MAC addresses are written as 12 digits containing both letters and numbers (0-9, A-F).

  • A MAC address is unique.
  • The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the device's manufacturer.

Troubleshooting

The lights indicate the current status of your gateway. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.

Note: The Arris TM9202 is only used for Voice.

Modem Light Status Problem
Power Off No power. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Solid None. The device is powered on.
Phone Solid None. Indicates service is enabled.
Flashing None. The line is in use.
Battery Off No battery backup is available, or the battery is not installed.
Flashing None. Running on battery power.
Solid None. AC power is working.
Critical Line Battery Off Battery needs replacement.

Telephone Ports

Telephone ports connect to the home telephone wiring and conventional telephones or fax machines.

  • Label TEL1: is used to connect your phone only if you subscribe to phone service from Cox.
  • Label TEL2: has a plug labeled do not remove and can only be removed when subscribing to a second voice line from Cox. Connecting a 3rd party device is not supported by Cox.
