CBSS Requirements for Internet Service Providers

Details

To use an Internet Service Provider (ISP), other than Cox-provided internet services for your Cox Business Security Solutions (CBSS) detection / surveillance services, you will need a compatible internet broadband service that is connected, operational, and adheres to the following requirements.

Surveillance
  • Wired internet service.
  • One 100-BaseT, or better, Ethernet port for connectivity to the Local Area Network (LAN).
  • An enabled Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service, for wired clients, to dynamically assign IP addresses to Cox equipment.
  • A minimum of 30 Mbps upstream and 20 Mbps downstream bandwidth. This is in addition to the bandwidth that you use for other internet-related services.

For surveillance installations with one Stream Video Recorder (SVR126), up to 18 DHCP IPs are required for the following equipment.

  • One per camera, up to 16 cameras
  • One for the SVR126
  • One for PC connection to be used for troubleshooting

For surveillance installations with two SVR126s, up to 35 DHCP IPs are required for the following equipment.

  • One per camera, up to 32 cameras
  • One per SVR126
  • One for PC connection to be used for troubleshooting
Detection
  • WiFi service.
  • Available 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless frequency.
  • Verify the WiFi coverage at the locations that the primary and secondary panels will be installed.

    Note: Cox can supply optional equipment to extend WiFi coverage to the primary and secondary panels.

  • A Service Set Identifier (SSID) and Passkey or WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) to pair panels on the wireless network.
  • An enabled DHCP.
  • You will need to provide the following WiFi credentials for touchscreen provisioning.
    • User ID
    • Password

For detection installations, up to five DHCP IPs are required for the following equipment.

  • One for the primary touchpanel
  • One per remote touchpanel, up to three panels
  • One for PC connection to be used for troubleshooting
