Changing the Secret Word in the Detection Mobile App

Solution


To update your Cox Business Security mobile app, see Download and Install the Detection Mobile App.

Your Central Station Passcode / Secret Word is used to cancel a dispatch by the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) in the event of a false alarm. The CMS operator cannot view your secret word, their access is limited to entering the word that you provide to them to cancel the alarm.

Choose your passcode / secret word using the recommendations below.

  • Eight letters or fewer
  • Easy to remember, pronounce, and spell

Follow these steps to change the secret word in your detection mobile app.

Sign in to the detection mobile app.

Complete the following steps.

  1. From the Overview screen, tap More.

  2. Tap Account.

From the Account screen, scroll down to the Secret Word section, tap Change Secret Word.

Result: The Account Verification pop-up screen displays, enter your Master Keypad Code.

In the Secret Word field, delete the current word and enter your new secret word.

Note: The secret word must not be more than eight letters.

Tap Save.

Note: To cancel your changes, tap Cancel.
