The National Do Not Call Registry allows customers to submit their wired and wireless phone numbers to a database that informs certain telemarketers not to contact the numbers.
Consumers can register for the National Do Not Call registry in two ways; online, or by calling a toll-free number.
- Registration is free and is available in both English and Spanish.
- Registration does not expire unless a number is disconnected, or until the consumer takes it off the registry.
Registration Method | Contact Information | Requirements |
---|---|---|
Online | Consumers nationwide can register online at donotcall.gov | If consumers register online, they must provide an email address. After registering online, consumers will receive an email. They will need to click on the link in the email within 72 hours to complete online registration. Email addresses on the registry are not shared with anyone. |
By phone | Consumers can register by calling, toll-free, 888-382-1222 (TTY 866-290-4236) | If consumers register by phone, they must call from the number they want to register. |
For information on who can still solicit your numbers after you register, see donotcall.gov.
Submit a Complaint
If you receive telemarketing calls after you have registered your phone number and your number has been in the registry for 31 days, you can file a complaint at donotcall.gov or by calling 888-382-1222.
Within the telemarketing rules associated with the National Do Not Call Registry, consumers with established relationships with companies such as Cox may continue to receive sales calls from those companies.
