Self-Installing the Phone Modem

Solution

Install the battery pack before you begin the Phone Modem installation steps listed below. The battery pack provides up to eight hours of phone and e911 service during a power outage. The battery pack installation steps are included in the battery pack package. For additional information on the Phone Modem battery you can visit www.coxbusiness.com/batteries.

Complete the following steps.

  1. Connect the coax cable from the Phone Modem to an active cable outlet.
  2. Connect the telephone cord to the Tel 1 or Tel 2 port, located on the back of the Phone Modem, to a wall phone jack or to your telephone.
  3. Connect the power cord from the Phone Modem to an electrical outlet.

    Note: Ensure that the electrical outlet isn't connected to a dimmer or a switched outlet.

Wait a few minutes for the Phone Modem to power on.

Note: When the Online light stays solid, the Phone Modem is connected to the network. This could take up to 10 minutes.
