Cox Fiber Internet Setup Guide

Cox has installed an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) at your residence to deliver your internet service. You’ll need to locate the ONT before connecting it to the Gateway.
 

Note: It’s usually mounted to an inside wall or a smart panel.
 

Refer to the following steps to connect your Fiber Panoramic Wifi Gateway.
 

Note: For Easy Connect kit contents, refer to Cox Fiber Internet Kit Contents.

  • Ensure the POWER light on the ONT is solid green. Next, check that the PON or BROADBAND light is solid green to get the strongest wifi signal.
  • If the lights are not solid green, we’ll need to help you set up. Call 1-888-556-1193 for assistance.

Plug in the Ethernet Cable

Look at the ONT to see if there’s already an Ethernet cable connected.
 

Don’t touch or disturb the PON/WAN cord. There are dangerous lasers in use.
 

If… Then…
There is a visible Ethernet cable; connect it to the bottom right Ethernet port on the Gateway. Ensure it’s the port with the orange line, as seen in the image above.
There is not a visible Ethernet cable, then remove the ONT’s faceplate and plug the Ethernet cable into the ONT’s Ethernet port. Plug the other end into the Gateway’s bottom right Ethernet port with the orange line. Then, attach the faceplate as seen in the image above.

Connect the Power Cord

Connect the power cord to the Gateway and an electrical outlet.

Connect to the Network

Wait about ten minutes for the Gateway to power on.

  1. Open the wifi settings on your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
  2. From the list of available networks, connect to your home Wi-Fi found on the bottom of your device.

    Do not connect to the COX WIFI hot spot as it is not your personal home network.

  3. Once it’s connected to the network, open a browser and surf the web to verify that your internet is good to go.
