Number Lock Protection is a complimentary feature that secures your account from unauthorized transfers of your mobile number, as well as unauthorized changes to your SIM/eSIM cards. This feature ensures that these types of account changes require your verification for added security.


Cox utilizes two-step verification to ensure only authorized users can make changes to an account.


Enabling this feature adds an additional layer of security. By having this feature enabled, if you choose to make any of the following changes below to your Cox Mobile lines, Cox will require an ID card scan to confirm your identity.

  • Transfer PIN (to port-out to another carrier)
  • Swapping a phone line to a different physical SIM card
  • Swapping a phone line to a different eSIM device.
