Cox Hotspots with Enhanced WiFi for Cox Mobile Customers

Cox hotspots with SIM-based Authentication are for Cox Mobile customers using Cox Mobile devices.

Cox Mobile WiFi allows you to securely connect to hotspots outside of your home in select areas at no additional charge. Using the network standard 802.1X provides increased security when connecting to Wifi on your Cox Mobile device. Cox Mobile WiFi is compatible with the following devices.

  • iOS 11.0 or later
  • Android 8.0 or later

Using the Cox Mobile SSID vs. the CoxWiFi SSID

Cox uses two SSIDs (Service Set Identifier) to connect devices. See the difference between each SSID below.

  • CoxWiFi - Available for all authenticated Cox Internet customers using a WiFi-capable device.
  • Cox Mobile - Provides a secure, encrypted connection exclusively for Cox Mobile customers on their Cox Mobile devices.

Notes:

  • Cox Mobile devices will be able to access the Cox Mobile SSID in select locations.
  • Cox Internet customers will continue to have access to 4 million hotspots with the CoxWiFi SSID.
  • Both SSIDs may be visible on Cox Mobile devices in select areas.

What is Cox Mobile Wifi?

Enhanced Wifi provides enhanced security and seamless roaming across the country. The Enhanced Wifi network uses 802.1x standards-based technology to encrypt authentication communication between the Cox Mobile device and Cox WiFi SSID access points, to gain access to the Wifi network.

How do I connect to Cox Mobile SSID?

Cox Mobile SSID is exclusive to Cox Mobile customers in select areas. As a Cox Mobile customer, you can connect to the Cox Mobile SSID by going to your device WiFi settings. Select Cox Mobile SSID to automatically connect.

Note: An SSID is the name assigned to the network that allows your devices to access Wifi.

Why can’t I connect to Cox Mobile SSID?

Cox Mobile SSID is exclusive to Cox Mobile customers in select areas. Cox Internet customers can continue to enjoy access to 4 million hotspots by connecting to CoxWiFi SSID. Once your device connects, open your browser. You will be directed to a login page to enter your Cox user ID and password. 

How do I log in to a Cox WiFi Hotspot?

Do I need to download the Cox digital certificate?

A download is no longer supported or required. You can directly access the Cox Mobile SSID in select areas by going to the device settings and selecting Cox Mobile SSID to automatically connect.

How do I remove the Cox Enhanced network profile, app, and Cox certificate from my device if I previously downloaded it?

To remove the network profile, app, and certificate, select one of the following based on your device.

Why don’t I see the Cox Mobile network in my home?

The Cox Mobile SSID is supported on our Cox Metro WiFi APs.
