As of March 21, 2024, free McAfee subscriptions will no longer be offered as part of Cox Internet plans. If you wish to keep anti-virus software on your devices, which we recommend, you should select a free or paid security option directly from security providers such as McAfee.
If you do not remove the Cox provided McAfee software from your devices, the McAfee software will no longer protect your devices starting June 27, 2024.
We are always evaluating the features we provide customers. Research shows most customers have anti-virus software on their computer. However, a very small number of our customers use the McAfee service we provide.
McAfee was offered as a complimentary service and was not part of your monthly internet cost. As such, removal of the service will not impact your bill. However, you can choose from various other anti-virus software providers that offer free or paid solutions by searching online to find one that best suits your needs.
You need to remove the Cox provided McAfee software from your devices, such as your computer or mobile phone by June 27, 2024. If you wish to continue using anti-virus software, you will need to select either a free or paid anti-virus software option directly from a software provider and ensure it is active by June 27, 2024.
You will need to download the new software directly from McAfee.
Starting June 27, 2024, Cox will no longer offer or support McAfee subscriptions and your devices will no longer be protected by McAfee, even if the software remains on your devices. If you wish to maintain anti-virus security for your devices, you should select and install new security software directly from the provider of your choice.
By June 27, 2024, you will need to select a new provider for your anti-virus software as Cox will no longer offer or support McAfee subscriptions.
