Hotspot network safety tips

A few pointers on safe surfing

Keep these tips in mind when connected to a Cox Hotspot to help protect your device from unexpected online threats. See here for even more ways to safeguard your devices.

Keep things secure

When browsing the web, look out for the lock icon and the word “Secure” in the address bar to verify it’s a safe website. Also, keeping your devices and apps updated can help protect you from harmful online activity.

Take extra precautions

When connected to public wifi, it’s best to turn off any auto-connect wifi settings, skip logging in to sites with passwords, disable printer or device sharing and avoid inputting any personal information or credit card numbers.

Watch out for scams

If you see another network pop up with a similar name, don’t join—it’s likely a hacker attempt to steal personal information from your device.
